"Let's Learn!" and the Asian International School's students

In the academic year 2013-2014, the Asian International School has launched the movement "Let's Learn!" for all students at IPS. This is a learning movement to foster and enhance English skills such as Listening, Reading and Writing for primary students as well as to help them be aware and initiate in self-studying English. " Let's Learn!" is a new and interesting movement. The response and participation it received was enthusiastic from students and the parents.

Since August 1st 2013 "Let's Learn!" has attracted the attendance of many students and created a cheerful atmosphere at the beginning of the school year. Joining " Let's Learn!" IPS students are encouraged to study on their own and do exercises in Happy series along with the official English curriculum. The Happy series are interesting books from Oxford University Press and include three sets for three different levels, i.e., Happy House for Starters, Happy Street for Movers, Happy World is for Flyers.

Studying more textbooks along with the main program will help students master the knowledge they've learned, increase their vocabulary, learn more about the new grammar points in English as well as provide them with more knowledge of life and science through a variety of topics that the textbooks bring to them.

The main purpose of "Let's Learn!" movement is to develop students' self-study skills. This is an issue which the board of the Asian International School is interested in. To facilitate students' learning the school provides them with ideal facilities such as classrooms, library, function rooms, etc... where students can learn by themselves. To do the self-study effectively, students are encouraged to use the course materials available at the school with teachers and parents' support . Following the motto of " Learn for yourself, it isn't because of points or achievements ", all students are aware of their role when participating in the movement.

During the "Let's Learn!" competition, the school administrators received positive feedback from the parents. The movement helps students to effectively improve their self-study habits with a passionate and active spirit.

"Let's Learn!" was finished after one month and the school has selected 112 outstanding students from the competition. To encourage all students' wonderful effort, on October 15th 2013, the Asian International School awarded them a picnic at Dam Sen Amusement Park.

Feelings of students and teachers

Pham Nghiem Trac – a student from class 5-01 at Trannhatduat Campus

" I like studying English very much. Therefore, when the "Let's Learn!" movement was launched, I felt very happy. My friends like it too because everybody wants to be self aware of learning to achieve the best performance. When I found out that I had won a prize, I was very proud and eager because the reward would be a day picnic at Dam Sen Park. Today, my friends and I have had a wonderful tour"

Ngyen Tran Minh Phuong – a student from class 1-02 at Thaivanlung Campus

"Every day, I do the workbook by myself at home. Learning more about the textbook Happy House, I reviewed old knowledge and studied many new words. I like coloring and drawing exercises of this book. I think that if I don't win this year, I will try more next year. I like studying at IPS very much because my teachers make every lesson easy to understand. Today, after going to Dam Sen Park, I will tell my parents and my friends that I have played a lot of new games and known more friends. It's really fun!"

Ton Nu Ngoc Khanh – a student from class 5-12 at Caothang Campus

"To win the prize my classmates and I was motivated to do the homework, read more books and frequently ask my teachers questions. Thanks to the movement, I understand that reading new books helps me gain more useful knowledge.
Today, I will go to Dam Sen Park and play many games. I will meet and make friends with those who are good at English too. My favorite game is "Maze" because it makes us nervous. I love all my teachers and my friends. I hope to continue my high school studies at the Asian International School"

Nguyen Phu Gia Han – a student from class 4-02 at Thaivanlung Campus

"My classmates and I have shared English knowledge with excitement during the " Let's Learn!" movement. After finishing class in the afternoon, we went to the self-study room to learn more from our teachers. We feel so excited about all of the school's movements. I would like to tell all students at IPS that " You should be confident to join in all movements the school makes available. Despite failure, you shouldn't be discouraged because these useful activities will improve our learning progress"

Vo Thanh Dien - an English teacher from Conghoa Campus.

"All of my students joined the " Let's Learn!" movement with an excited feeling. Since the school started the program, students have become more active in learning. After each lesson, they finish all of the exercises in the book. Because there are many new types of exercises in the Happy books, students can adapt and improve their results significantly"

Nguyen Thi My Van - an English teacher from Vanthanh Campus

"Let's Learn!" is a new learning movement this school year. I have observed my students since we've started "Let's Learn!" and recognized that students' abilities are highly competitive because students are self-aware of the learning process.
When students asked for help, I explained and guided them towards finding the keys themselves. I think this is a very creative movement that helps promote students' interest in reading more books and developing effective learning skills.
