Plan for Incense offering ceremony 2018 - 2019

1.Objective

With the motto "Vietnam's spirit, global education", The Asian International School focuses on preservation and development of Vietnamese culture and tradition for students.

The goal of this ceremony is to remind students about important relationships in life and help them pay tribute to ancestors, teachers and parents as well.

In addition, the ceremony encourages students' effort in study and motivates them to gain success in the future.

2.Time & Location

  • Time: 6:00 - 17:30 on Saturday, February 23, 2019
  • Location: SIU Traditional Park (29 Le Hong Phong St., Long Khanh Town, Dong Nai Province)
  • Students should be at Cao Thang Campus (177Bis2 Cao Thang St., Ward 12, Dist. 10) The school buses depart at 6:30.
  • 6:00 – 6:30: Have breakfast at the school
    6:30 – 8:30: Go to SIU Traditional Park
    9:00 – 11:00: The Incense offering ceremony takes place
    11:30 – 15:00: Camping
    15:30 – 17:30: Return to Caothang Campus

    - Class teachers receive graduation gown:

    • Time: 6:00am – 6:30am, February 23, 2019
    • Location: Professional Room at Cao Thang Campus
  • Students return the graduation gown to their class teachers after the ceremony finishes.

3.Participants:

Teachers and grade 12 students of Middle & High School AHS of the school year 2018 - 2019

4.Attendance fee

  • 100% of the attendance fee for teachers and students will be paid by the school
  • Students who do not register for food service pay 132,000 VND/student for meals
  • The fee for food is paid at the Accounting Department before the day of the ceremony

6.2.The final competition at the SIU Traditional Park

  • Types of competition
    • Camp making
      + Students set up their own camp
      + Prizes: Most beautifully decorated & Fastest completion
    • Sporting competition
      + Tug of war includes prizes for: men's, women's and mixed doubles team
      + Sack race includes prizes for: men's singles , women's singles and mixed doubles
      + Food stand includes prizes: Most beautifully decorated, Most delicious dish and The greatest variety of dishes

7.The sequence of the Incense Offering Ceremony

  • 9:00 : Students line around the square to prepare for the ceremony
    • 3 times + 3 sounds of Dai Hong Chung Bell
    • 3 times + 3 sounds of drum
    • Students bow at Quan Hill, Su Hill
      After bowing at Su Hill, students go to the celebrity statues, together bow and then move to Phu Hill. After bowing at Phu Hill, students move to the main hall of Van Mieu.
      It is time to hold the ceremony, the bell and drum will resound and MC makes an introduction, then students come to Van Mieu to bow and go to Nhan Tai Stele in front of Van Mieu to bow again.
  • After finishing the ceremony, students gather by class and follow the instructions of class teachers.

8.Regulations

  • Wear the school uniform and sandals
  • Wear graduation gown and graduation cap with tassels on the left
  • Improperly dressed students will not be allowed to attend the incense offering ceremony
  • Participants must strictly follow the formalities of the ceremony and respect the ritual of the ceremony.
  • Students are not allowed to burn incense anywhere else in the Traditional Park.
  • Do not use cellphones or talk during the ceremony (Any student who does not comply will be asked to leave the ceremony).
  • During the ceremony, the students do not leave the line-up unless signaled to do so.
  • Students must return graduation gown right after the ceremony finishes
  • Students must strictly follow the instructions of class teachers and the Board of organizers
  • - While taking part in activities of the ceremony, students have the responsibility to preserve facilities, equipment and property of the SIU's traditional park. Students must compensate for any loss or damage to the SIU's traditional park for whatever reason at current market price.
  • The school will not be responsible for any accidents of students if the cases are beyond the control and care of the school and teachers.
  • Students must take care of their own personal belongings. The school accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage.
