International program

1. English
Students will be taught all language skills such as: listening, speaking, writing, pronouncing, vocabulary… by native English teachers and teaching assistants through using Solutions textbook of Tim Falla & Paul A. Davies, Oxford University Publisher – UK, which is designed for each level from Starter to Upper-Intermediate of Middle & High School. Topics about life will be taught in different lessons: vocabulary, grammar, culture, reading and writing and English language in use; this will help students remember more vocabulary in each lesson. Moreover, group discussions, homework, and monthly tests provide students with essential skills, ability of communicating confidently, comfortably; help them to adapt all requirements in international examinations.

2. Science
Due to curiosity, children always want to discover the world with a lot of wonders around them and always make questions. At The Asian High School, science is taught by foreign teachers and Vietnamese teaching assistants. This subject is very interesting to students and helps students to answer their questions related to Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Combining with discussions, presentations with projector and audio-visual equipment, these subjects make students eager to study during the whole class. The textbooks which are designed with lively and colorful pictures help students imagine and remember the lessons better. Studying together with practicing will wake up students' desires of studying and explaining phenomenon happening around them.

·   Science (Physics): Physics First of George Bethell & David Coppock, Oxford University Press: students will learn about rules of nature related to matter, energy, space and time.
·  Science (Chemistry): Chemistry First of George Bethell & David Coppock, Oxford University Press – UK: students will learn about property, composition of matter, molecule structure, chemical reactions...

3. Math
Students will study Math in English with foreign teachers and Vietnamese teaching assistants by using textbook Math Links 7C of Marguerite Appleton, Dave Capewell, Pete Mullarkey & James Nicholson, Oxford University Press – UK; and Math Matters of Sin Kwai Men & Chip Wai Lunng, EPB Pan Pacific Press- Singapore. In this subject, students will learn about Arithmetics, Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics… in order to acquire general Maths knowledge and apply them to their life. 

Studying Math helps students not only know English mathematical terms but also promote their abilities of solving mathematic problems, reasoning and thinking logically. This also helps school to discover talents in Math at school age and create foundation for students to study Math of international program well in higher classes or to study abroad in the future.

4. Grammar
School not only wants to promote students’ abilities of communicating in English but also aims to help them speak and write correctly. Therefore, in Grammar classes, Vietnamese teaching assistants will provide students with basic and advanced English grammar. Students will learn new lessons, review old lessons, and play intellectual and entertaining games, making them excited to learn this subject.

5. Drama
Young people are always talented actors and actresses. In order to promote all potential abilities of students, school has Drama – Drama in English as a subject taught by foreign teachers. Students will analyze, cast and act like characters from classic dramas or scripts written by themselves. This will help students be more active and confident and promote their creativity.
Drama is always a lively and interesting class which is loved by all students.

6. English in music
English in music class is always the one that most of students like much because English is taught through eventful songs and pretty melodies by Vietnamese teaching assistants. Apart from studying English through songs, students also know about music styles and can show their voice with musical instruments in music rooms. School often holds music events to create condition for students to express their talents. Singing and hearing songs are also good methods for students to improve their English speaking and listening skills.

7. Media
In this subject, students will mainly study with Internet, e-books, and e-news. Vietnamese teaching assistants instruct students to study topics about natural science, societies, cultures, sports, education… These topics are regularly updated and appropriately designed to interest and age of students. Students will finish their presentations focusing on the topics given in groups or individuals.

8. Film
This subject is designed to widen vocabulary and especially promote ability to listen comprehension. With support of Vietnamese teaching assistants, students will study and practice English by watching movies in English, which are appropriate to their age and culture. Film classes are always lively and interesting, helping the students practice pronunciation, intonation as well as use of words from characters in specific context naturally.

9. History
This subject is to help students learn about world’s history through lessons designed with content proper to students’ English level. With the textbook Worl Studies – Medieval times to today of Heidi Hayes Jacobs, Michal L. Le Vasseur, Kate Kinsella & Kevin Feldman – Pearson Prentice Hall Press – US, students will develop a greater depth of appreciation for human civilizations, empires, wars and revolutions from medieval time to modern time by discussions with instructions of foreign teachers. History knowledge and presentation skills of students will be enhanced and promoted.

10. Geography
Geography is considered as one of world’s oldest sciences. With textbook Geog. of Rosemarie Gallaghe, Richard Parish & Janes Williamson, Oxford University Press – UK, geography is divided into three main fields: physical geography, human geography and environment geography. Discovering new lands, new cultures, new ideas is a basis characteristic of geography. With the instructions of foreign teachers, Geography lessons will help students discover the world around; learn how to use a map; study rules, human activities, and natural changes and understand what to do to in the future for a better planet.

11. Literature
With Bookworms Club series, Oxford University Press – UK, students learn about literature through series of stories which are chosen with characters full of humanity. Students, with support of foreign teachers, can freely to discuss and give individual opinions about characters in order to promote literature skills and reading desire.

12. TOEFL iBT

The textbooks will help students step by step to build, develop and promote speaking, listening, reading, writing skills according to requirements of TOEFL iBT Exam of ETS. They will help the students not only improve their English, achieve high results in national and international examinations, but also meet the requirements for transferring to prestigious schools in the world.

The International program of The Asian High School is designed on the middle & high school education standards of Britain and America. The syllabi of school are compiled and checked by a Scientific Council. Students of The Asian High School have English level and knowledge equal to students in developed countries. After graduation, students with aspirations can be directly transferred to prestigious universities in English speaking countries such as: US, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore… or continue to study at The Saigon International University, a member of The Group of Asian International Education.
