AHS students bustle with the Halloween festival 2013
Halloween is a traditional yearly festival celebrated in the evening of October 31st. On this day, children will be dressed in bizarre costumes and knock at the doors to ask for candies. This festival is held in Western countries such as the US, Canada, the UK, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Puerto Rico and has become popular in Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam.

At the beginning of October, all AHS students of The Asian International School eagerly prepare for the Halloween festival by participating in the Halloween-themed painting and pumpkin carving contests. The spooky, creepy paintings of macabre world and pumpkins carved with scary demon faces are used to decorate everywhere in the schoolyard. This creates the creepy and mysterious atmosphere of the Halloween festival.

The Halloween festival 2013 included many interesting and creative games like graveyard decoration, destroying ghost apple, mummification, disguise and Halloween drama to make many students feel excited and eager to participate in.

The scary atmosphere pervaded the schoolyard of The Asian International School with disguised faces as Death, devil masks, ghosts and witches combined with horrible sound effects. Not only did students invest in the Halloween activities, but teachers also joined the festival with outlandish costumes and ghostly faces.

The creative game that attracted most students' interest and curiosity was "Haunted graveyard". Through their prolific imaginations and dexterity, students turned simple materials like pieces of cardboard, spongy boxes, nylon ropes into creepy graveyards with scissors, watercolor and decorations.

Meanwhile, the "Destroying ghost apple" and "Mummification" games also took place excitedly. With strong encouragement, all students compete to know which team destroyed more ghost apples as well as wrapping mummies more quickly and beautiful within 1 minute and 30 seconds. This game entails ingenuity, agility, co-operation of members and helps students promote solidarity.

The most expected contest in this festival was the Halloween costume performance. Besides enormous investment in costumes and makeup, students also expressed their confidence and creativity in performing to make all presentations attractive and impressive. Notably, highlight in the Halloween festival 2013 were the skillful dancing performance and well-prepared play, which gained unparalleled approval from the audience.

The festival ended with a lot of tremendous fun and satisfaction for all teachers and students. By participating in a Western traditional festival, all students had an opportunity to learn more about the customs of many countries as well as foster their creativity and prolific imagination. More importantly, the festival promotes the solidarity between students and teachers and generates motivation for students to try their best in studies to become elite citizens in the future.
